For those who want the best there is: Vacuum infused fiberglass construction and twin Volvo Penta IPS engines.
Open ocean fishing AND family inland waterway cruising.
Volvo Penta IPS
Lindell Yachts has partnered with Volvo Penta to offer the latest smart technology for marine propulsion. The Volvo IPS stands for “independent propulsion system.” This system utilizes two individually steerable pod drives under the hull. Each pod can be articulated independently to direct propeller thrust wherever you need it, so no rudders are required. This flexibility enables the boat to maneuver like no other. Now it is possible to literally spin in the boat’s own length, turn 90-degrees on a dime, and carve tighter turns at speed.
The pods are easily controlled by a joystick, so maneuvering is as simple as pushing or turning the stick in whichever direction you want the boat to go. This makes it possible to dock in a new and completely intuitive way, no more opposing the engines and jockeying the throttles to back into a slip or make a tight turn in the marina basin.
When less is more.
Traditional fiberglass construction is heavy and often “resin rich.” Woven fiberglass sheets are “hand laid” in layers onto the shape of the mold. Resin is then poured and rolled into the woven sheet layers and allowed to soak into the fibers. For decades this has been the typical way to build a fiberglass boats. The problem is, this method can create significant structural inconsistencies within the coring and between the fiberglass layers. The spaces fill up with the resin creating a hull that is heavy with resin, brittle, and thus not very strong. Most builders continue to use this method in order to save time and money. We have a better way: Vacuum Infusion.
Rather than letting the resin inconsistently settle into the fabric on its own, Lindell uses a strong vacuum force to remove the air between the glass fibers and coring, and thus drawing in resin to fill the space. The result is a consistent and ideal 1:1 ratio of fiberglass to resin creating a stronger, lighter-weight construction that transforms the range and handling of our boats. Revolutionary in the ship-building world. In this photo, dark red resin is being pulled into the white fiberglass layers. This process adds significant time and complexity in manufacturing — but the final quality speaks for itself.
Smart is as smart does:
DYNAMIC POSITIONING SYSTEM – Just press a button and the Lindell uses a combination of GPS, electronic controls, and the pods to maintain an exact position in the water, constantly compensating for the forces of wind, waves, and current. This is just what you need when you’re preparing for docking, waiting for refueling or a bridge to open, or sitting over your favorite fishing hole.
Effortless docking with GPS accuracy.
The Lindell Volvo Penta controls allow you to simply pull up to the dock, and use the joystick for intuitive, effortless docking. Rotate the bow and stern around your boat's center axis; move forward, backward or sideways — all at controllable low speed.
- 30% reduced fuel consumption
- 30% less CO2 emissions
- 50% lower perceived noise level
- 40% longer cruising range
- 20% higher top-speed
- Safe and predictable handling
- Joystick docking
From wild to mild.
SLOW TROLL MODE – With this low-speed mode, you reduce boat speed at idling by 50% – during testing we averaged 1.2 knots on two engines and 0.4 knots on one. Perfect when you’re driving in marinas and canals, or trolling for the catch of the day. Total system integration gives seamless operation with the standard controls.
SPORTFISH MODE – Developed exclusively for Volvo Penta IPS, the Sportfish mode will enhance your big-game fishing. Rapidly turn your boat around its own axis – and follow the fish at high speed in reverse, using only the engine controls, to ensure a successful catch.
Protected and durable:
Volvo’s forward facing pod drives allow for continual clean water to the propulsion system to achieve maximum performance and efficiency.
The Volvo Penta IPS is superior to inboard shafts in every vital aspect including handling, onboard comfort and performance. Those benefits have made it by far the most popular pod system available for boats of this size.
